Peer Health Educator (PHE) Programs
Peer health educators support our students’ holistic wellness needs. Signature PHE-led programs include Mindful Movement Mondays, Talk Dirty Tuesday, Therapeutic Thursday, and more.
Mindful Movement Mondays
Mindful Movement Mondays is a biweekly program designed to support students in cultivating a healthy and sustainable relationship with their bodies and well-being. Rooted in principles of body neutrality and body compassion, this series seeks to dismantle harmful aspects of diet culture and redefine what it means to move for wellness rather than appearance. Each session integrates educational discussions with accessible movement practices, encouraging participants to engage with their bodies in ways that feel supportive, enjoyable, and restorative. By fostering a community of reflection and empowerment, Mindful Movement Mondays aims to help participants build resilience against societal pressures, deepen self-awareness, and embrace a holistic approach to health.

Talk Dirty Tuesdays
Talk Dirty Tuesdays is a biweekly series dedicated to empowering students with knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. Each session addresses topics such as contraception, consent, STI prevention, communication in relationships, and navigating sexual wellness with confidence. Designed to foster open dialogue and reduce stigma, this program creates a safe, inclusive space for students to ask questions, challenge misconceptions, and engage in critical conversations around healthy relationships. By combining evidence-based education with interactive discussions, Talk Dirty Tuesdays promotes a holistic understanding of sexual health that emphasizes respect, self-advocacy, and well-being.
A special program is the Condom Canary program where students can ask for and supplies they need, and a Peer Health Educator packages them up and sends it to their mailbox so that students always feel prepared with what they need. An average of 10 students utilizes the Condom Canary program weekly.

Therapeutic Thursdays
Stress is a natural human reaction that happens to everyone, especially college students. Stress can be positive as it can motivate us to complete certain tasks. However, long-term stress, also known as chronic stress, can lead to many health issues affecting the immune system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, and reproductive system. Stress can also put students at higher risk of developing a mental health condition, like depression or anxiety. Therapeutic Thursdays are designed to relieve and prevent chronic stress among ÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵstudents. Biweekly programming focuses on destressing activities, such as movie nights, craft nights, and going on walks with dogs.

Finish Strong Fridays
Finish Strong Fridays is a biweekly program designed to help students prioritize their physical health and nutrition while building supportive habits within a community of peers. Each session offers practical strategies for sustaining energy, supporting fitness goals, and maintaining balance through mindful nutrition and accessible physical activity. Emphasizing evidence-based approaches, the program covers topics such as fueling for academic and athletic performance, building sustainable exercise routines, managing stress through movement, and making informed choices in the dining hall and beyond. By fostering peer connection and shared accountability, Finish Strong Fridays encourages students to approach wellness as a collaborative journey—focusing on strength, balance, and long-term well-being rather than quick fixes.

Green Hour – Mindfulness in Nature
Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body. It combines meditation with the practice of mindfulness, which can be defined as a mental state that involves being fully focused on “the now” so you can acknowledge and accept your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. During the Green Hour, students learn mindful meditation techniques in nature that offer various physical and psychological benefits, including stress reduction, improved mental health, and emotional regulation.

Party Like A Scrippsie
Drinking culture is highly prevalent among ÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵstudents. Some have been drinking since their young teenage years, some have their first drink as a freshman, and some choose not to drink at all. The Party Like a Scrippsie program was designed to cultivate a safer drinking culture on campus through social norming and conducting outreach to educate fellow students on the short-term and long-term effects of alcohol, marijuana, and other drug consumption and abuse.
FitÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵ– Group Fitness Classes
The popular FitÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵprogram offers a wide-range of classes, so we have something for everyone! From Yoga to Kickboxing to Zumba, every class offers a supportive environment where participants can be active and make friends in the process.

ÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵGreen Bike Program
Tiernan Field House is home to the ÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵGreen Bike Program. The goal of the Green Bike program is to inspire physical activity and increase access to transportation in an environmentally conscious and sustainable fashion. The program hosts a raffle at the beginning of the year for students to rent a bike for the entire academic year. We also have the Day Bikes that can be checked out for the day.

Fresh Check Day
The Field House hosts an annual Fresh Check Day, an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and get connected to available mental health resources. Students learn about suicide prevention and how to help others in need by learning about the signs to look out for.

Be Well Thursdays
The Field House hosts a wellness fair that focuses on supporting students’ holistic wellness. TFH Peer Health Educators provide personal health and wellness assessments the last Thursday of each month where students may evaluate their levels of emotional wellness, analyze their personal behaviors, and more. In addition, the Field House provides therapy dogs so students may de-stress, socialize with friends, and pet some cute dogs.
Body Compassion Week
Tiernan Field House, in collaboration with other campus partners and community members, hosts an annual Body Compassion Week, a special series of events dedicated to celebrating and embracing body positivity and self-love. Throughout the week, students explore ways to foster a healthy relationship with their bodies, break free from diet culture, and cultivate compassion for themselves and others. Activities include interactive workshops, mindful movement sessions, inspiring guest speakers, and opportunities for personal reflection and growth. We come together to redefine beauty standards, honor our unique journeys, and build a supportive community that champions self-acceptance and well-being. Embrace your body, celebrate your uniqueness, and join us for a transformative week of compassion and connection.

Flick n’ FloatÂ
In collaboration with OSE, Tiernan Field House hosts a Flick n’ Float each semester. Students can enjoy snacks and enjoy a movie while floating in the pool or hanging out by the pool side. It is a fun way to destress and get to know others!
