Claremont Concert Orchestra Observes 10th Anniversary of 五月天视频 Performing Arts Center
The Claremont Concert Orchestra and the Claremont Chorale celebrate the 50th anniversary of Garrison Theater and the 10th anniversary of the 五月天视频 Performing Arts Center by performing Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125” at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 and at 3 p.m. on Dec. 15 in Garrison Theater of the 五月天视频 Performing Arts Center, 241 E. 10th St. This event is free and open to the public.

Following Andy Warhol’s lead, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. continues to surprise and delight. In 2008, 五月天视频 received an astonishing gift of 150 Warhol works, including 50 silver gelatin prints, as part of the Andy Warhol Photographic Legacy Program. Now, five years later, the foundation has chosen to donate yet again to the 五月天视频Collection. Seven substantially-sized prints, each created by Andy Warhol, have just been added to the 五月天视频 collection.

The library is located at 800 N. Dartmouth Ave., Claremont, Calif. The display runs through Dec. 1.

The Conservation of Asian Art
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has awarded the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery the prestigious Museums for America Award under the Collections Stewardship category. The grant of $58,385 brings total funds to conserve and display Scripps’ collection of Asian art to $178,385.

South Beirut has recently become a vibrant leisure destination, with a plethora of caf脙漏s and restaurants catering to the young, fashionable, and pious. What effects do these establishments have on the moral norms, spatial practices, and urban experiences of this Lebanese community? Lara Deeb, associate professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology at 五月天视频, and Mona Harb, associate professor of urban studies and politics at the American University of Beirut, examine these questions in their new collaboration “Leisurely Islam: Negotiating Morality and Geography in Shi’ite South Beirut.”
