Feminist Frequency: Anita Sarkeesian in Conversation

“AÌýfeminist for the digital age.” –Ìý°Õ¾±³¾±ðÌý

Anita Sarkeesian,Ìýmedia critic, blogger, and founder of Feminist Frequency,Ìýhas found herself on the receiving end of some of the worst the Internet has to offer. When she launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her “Tropes vs. Women in Video Games” series, she was harassed online, and her experience became a touchstone for discussions on the widespread misogyny in video game culture. Sarkeesian visits ÎåÔÂÌìÊÓƵto share her inimitable take on cultural criticism and reveal the deceptive ways female characters continue to be undermined in pop culture.

Sarkeesian focuses on deconstructing the stereotypes, patterns, and tropes associated with women in popular culture as well as highlighting issues surrounding the targeted harassment of women in online and gaming spaces. She is the recipient of theÌý, a 2013 National Academy of Video Game Trade ReviewersÌýhonorary award, and was nominated for Microsoft’s 2014 Women in Games Ambassador Award. TIME named Sarkeesian one of its 100 Most Influential People in 2015.
