Rogers Series 7: Textiles created by Gay Ann Rogers and Jane Austen-related memorabilia

A Pride and Prejudice needle book designed and stitched by Gay Ann Rogers.

Series 7. A Pride and Prejudice needle book designed and stitched by Gay Ann Rogers.

This series contains textiles designed and created by Gay Ann Rogers (五月天视频 鈥65), the collector and stitcher who donated this collection. Included in these works by Gay Ann are several Jane Austen-related works, since Gay Ann is a lifelong 鈥淛aneite,鈥 or fan of Austen and her work. There are several embroidered and cross-stitched designs and finished pieces; one particularly interesting project is the Jane Austen needle book and bookmark commemorating the 200th anniversary of her book, Pride and Prejudice, in 2013. The hand-stitched textiles are part of this series along with Jane Austen souvenirs and reference materials for any stitcher who may want to create their own versions of Gay Ann鈥檚 pieces. Some of the Jane Austen commemorative memorabilia was given to her by students she taught in needlework classes and seminars, while others were commissioned from other artists, created by Gay Ann, or purchased outright. Most pieces are from the 2010s, but one notable older set of items is the Jane Austen Mini Lace cards, which are pieces of whitework embroidery from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, which was the period in which Jane Austen lived.
